Wilson Farm is a magical place! It exudes an almost indescribable, super-charged level of the energy inherent to the given season, whether it’s the holiday season, the harvest season, the growing season, any season. Every day there is like a festival. I feel so lucky to live near this farm. When I’m having a fantastic day, when I’m having a down day, or really no matter the day, walking through Wilson’s is a profound pleasure and always seems just right for the moment.
When the opportunity to share “Piccadilly’s Magical World” there arose, I was beyond thrilled. The Piccadilly books are not “seasonal”, in the sense that they are wonderful anytime reads, centered around curiosity, imagination, family, and nature, themes that transcend a particular season. However, they are set at their own unique times of year, and Piccadilly’s latest adventure, Piccadilly and the Waltzing Wind is set in the autumn. Sharing the new release of this tale at Wilson’s during the harvest season felt like a beautiful dream.
One of the highlights of the day was a lovely reading of Waltzing Wind by Wilson’s employee and former schoolteacher, Kathleen. It always gives me great pleasure to hear other’s read my stories, and her animated retelling along with her talent and enthusiasm made this an exquisite treat.
We all had such a magical afternoon. I hear even the lovable and mischievous Sir Bartleby had nothing but the highest praise… especially to see so many employees and patrons alike sporting a button featuring his likeness. 🙂
